Christopher R. Rawson, RPT

I was always interested in engineering and problem solving. I had musical ability and mechanical skills, but didn’t know how I would apply them, until I began working on pianos. From a young age I would watch as my mother’s piano was tuned by her technician, and that started the whole thing.

The Man at Rawson

Christopher R. Rawson, RPT is currently a piano technician and innovator who has been tuning and repairing pianos since 2003. After working at a print shop, True-Value hardware store, and as a wedding photographer, he decided to pursue his career in piano tuning and restoration full time. In June 2006, he graduated with distinction from the world class Piano Technology Program at The University of Western Ontario (UWO) in London, Ontario, Canada, and afterward passed the R.P.T. examinations at the June 2006 Piano Technicians Guild Convention in Rochester, NY.

Through continuing education, I strive to provide my clients with top quality products and services. I believe that a fulfilling relationship between pianist and piano is both a physical and spiritual one, and the height of that relationship comes when a piano is used as an extension and expression of the one who plays it. Removing some of the things that hinder that relationship—less than ideal touch, unsatisfactory timbre, and improper tuning, brings me great satisfaction.

Chris’s hobbies include inventing, photography, and playing the piano. His favorite sports include badminton, volleyball, hiking, and bowling.
